REPUBLIC ACT No. 5310

An Act Converting La Union Agricultural School in the Municipality of Bacnotan, Province of La Union, into a College, to be Known as Don Mariano Marcos Memorial College of Agriculture and Authorizing the Appropriation of Funds Therefor

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippine Congress Assembled:

Section 1. The La Union Agricultural School located in the Municipality of Bacnotan, Province of La Union, is hereby converted into a college to be known as the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial College of Agriculture.

Section 2. The Don Mariano Marcos Memorial College of Agriculture shall offer, in addition to the secondary agricultural curriculum, any or all of the following courses at the discretion of the Director of Vocational Education:

(a) Two-year technical agricultural course leading to the title of Associate in Agriculture;

(b) Four-year technical agricultural course leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science in Agriculture; and

(c) Four-year teacher education course leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Education.

Section 3. The Don Mariano Marcos Memorial College of Agricultural shall be headed by a Superintendent of Agricultural Instruction and shall be under the Bureau of Vocational Education. The Superintendent shall have direct administration and supervision over all the other agricultural schools in the Province of La Union under the Bureau of Vocational Education.

Section 4. The Secretary of Education is hereby empowered to reorganize the said school in accordance with the provisions of this Act.

Section 5. The sum of five hundred thousand pesos is hereby authorized to be appropriated, out of any funds in the National Treasury not otherwise appropriated, for the conversion, operation and maintenance of the said college, in addition to the present appropriation of the La Union Agricultural School for the fiscal year nineteen hundred and sixty-eight to nineteen hundred and sixty-nine: Provided, That one hundred thousand pesos thereof shall be used for fellowships and scholarship grants and exchanges for the members of the faculty, and scholarships to students in exceptionally meritorious cases.1avvphi1 Thereafter, the necessary sum for the maintenance and operation of the said college shall be included in the annual General Appropriations Act.

Section 6. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
