REPUBLIC ACT No. 1558

An Act Granting Members of the Philippine Army, Recognized Guerrilla Forces and Philippine Scouts, Who Failed to Establish Their Backpay Rights Under Republic Act Numbered Three Hundred and Four, Amended by Republic Acts Numbered Eight Hundred and Eight Hundred Ninety-Seven, an Additional Period of One Year Within Which to File Their Applications Thereunder, and for Other Purposes

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippine Congress Assembled:

Section 1. Members of the Philippine Army, recognized guerrilla forces and Philippine Scouts, or their heirs, who failed to establish their backpay rights within the period prescribed by Section five of Republic Act Numbered Eight hundred and ninety-seven, are hereby granted an additional period of one year from the approval of this Act within which to file applications for the recognition of their backpay rights under Republic Act Numbered Three hundred and four, as amended by Republic Acts Numbered Eight hundred and Eight hundred and ninety-seven.

Section 2. Upon approval of this Act, the Treasurer of the Philippines shall give the provisions of Section one hereof the widest possible dissemination so as to reach rural areas through his subordinate provincial and municipal officials and employees with directives regarding acquisition of application forms, manner of accomplishing and transmitting them, rendition of assistance to claimants in need of help in this regard, and such other instruction as he may deem necessary.

Section 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
