DECLARING MONDAY, AUGUST 8, 2005, AS SPECIAL (NON-WORKING) DAY IN THE ENTIRE AUTONOMOUS REGION IN MUSLIM MINDANAO (ARMM), AND MONDAY AND TUESDAY, AUGUST 8-9, 2005, AS SPECIAL (NON-WORKING) DAYS IN ALL PUBLIC SCHOOLS IN COTABATO CITY AND ALL SCHOOLS OUTSIDE THE ARMM DULY DESIGNATED BY THE COMELEC AS COUNTING AND CANVASSING VENUES FOR THE ARMM ELECTIONS

WHEREAS, the elections in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) will be conducted on Monday, August 8, 2005;

WHEREAS, the COMELEC passed Resolution No. 7559, dated July 30, 2005, deputizing the Department of Education and all other national and local government agencies in Cotabato City and designating, as determined by the Commissioner-In-Charge of Maguindanao, public school buildings or other government buildings or premises in Cotabato City as counting and canvassing venues for the ARMM elections;

WHEREAS, in order to give opportunity to the electorate concerned to participate in such political exercise, there is a need to declare special (non-working) day for the conduct of the ARMM elections;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, EDUARDO R. ERMITA, Executive Secretary, by authority of Her Excellency, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, do hereby declare Monday, August 8, 2005, as special (non-working) day in the entire Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM), and Monday and Tuesday, August 8-9, 2005, as special (non-working) days in all public schools in Cotabato City and all schools outside the ARMM duly designated by the Commission on Elections as counting and canvassing venues for the ARMM elections.
