DECLARING MONDAY MAY 30, 2005, AS SPECIAL (NON-WORKING) DAY IN THE FIFTH DISTRICT OF CEBU

WHEREAS, the House of Representatives approved and passed Resolution No. 37, dated July 26, 2004 certifying the existence of a vacancy in the House of Representatives for the Fifth District of Cebu and calling for a special election to fill such vacancy;

WHEREAS, on Monday, May 30, 2005, the Commission on Elections will conduct Special Elections for the Member of the House of Representatives for the Fifth District of Cebu pursuant to COMELEC Resolution No. 7504, promulgated of May 24, 2005;

WHEREAS, in order to give opportunity to the electorate concerned to participate in such political exercise, there is a need to declare a special (non-working) day for the conduct of a special elections for the member of the House of Representatives in the Fifth District of Cebu.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, EDUARDO R. ERMITA, Executive Secretary, by authority of Her Excellency, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, do hereby declare Monday, May 30, 2005, as special (non-working) day in the Fifth District of Cebu.
