[ Proclamation No. 90, August 24, 2001 ]

DECLARING SATURDAY, AUGUST 25, 2001, AS A SPECIAL NON-WORKING DAY IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF GAPAN, NUEVA ECIJA

WHEREAS, Republic Act Nos. 6646, 7160 and 9022 dated January 5, 1988, October 10, 1991 and March 5, 2001, respectively, provide for the conversion of the Municipality of Gapan into a component city to be known as the City of Gapan and mandates the holding of a plebiscite for the ratification thereof;

WHEREAS, the Commission on Elections, in its Resolution No. 4534 dated August 10, 2001, has scheduled the plebiscite day for the ratification of the conversion of the said municipality on Saturday, August 25, 2001;

WHEREAS, to enable the residents of the said municipality to actively participate in the scheduled political exercise, there is a need to declare the plebiscite day as a special non-working day;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, ALBERTO G. ROMULO, Executive Secretary, by order of Her Excellency, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, President of the Philippines, do hereby declare Saturday, August 25, 2001, as a special non-working day in the Municipality of Gapan, Nueva Ecija.
