DECLARING MONDAY, AUGUST 13, 2001 AND TUESDAY, AUGUST 14, 2001 AS SPECIAL NON-WORKING HOLIDAYS IN THE AUTONOMOUS REGION IN MUSLIM MINDANAO (ARMM)

WHEREAS, under Resolution No. 4502 dated July 11, 2001, the Commission on Elections has scheduled the plebiscite day on Tuesday, August 14, 2001 in the following fifteen (15) provinces and fourteen (14) cities in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM):

WHEREAS, Tuesday, August 14, 2001, should be declared a special non-working holiday to give the people the fullest opportunity to participate in the said elections;

WHEREAS, Monday, August 13, 2001, should also be declared as a special non-working holiday to allow qualified voters whose polling precincts are distant from their work stations or temporary residences, to participate in the plebiscite.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare Monday August 13, 2001 and Tuesday, August 14, 2001, as special non-working holidays in the fifteen (15) provinces and fourteen (14) cities in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
