[ Proclamation No. 26, April 6, 2001 ]

DECLARING THE MONTH OF APRIL 2001 AND EVERY YEAR THEREAFTER AS ILUKO LITERATURE MONTH

WHEREAS, pursuant to Sec. 15, Article XIV of the Constitution, arts and letters shall enjoy the patronage of the State and that the State shall conserve, promote and popularize the nations cultural heritage and resources, as well as artistic creations;

WHEREAS, Sec. 9 Art. XIV of the Constitution also provides that Congress shall establish a national language commission composed of representative of various regions and disciplines which shall undertake, coordinate and promote researches for the development, propagation and preservation of Filipino and other languages;

WHEREAS, the development of the Iluko Literature and the preservation of Ilokano culture are important facets of the Filipino cultural heritage;

WHEREAS, towards this end, the month of April of every year has, in the past, been dedicated to the holding of literary seminar workshops on Iluko Literature.1aшphi1

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the month of April 2001 and every year thereafter as Iluko Literature Month.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
