[ Proclamation No. 16, March 9, 2001 ]

DECLARING SATURDAY, MARCH 10, 2001, AS A SPECIAL DAY IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF TANAUAN, PROVINCE OF BATANGAS

WHEREAS, Republic Act No. 9005 dated February 2, 2001, provides for the conversion of the Municipality of Tanauan, Province of Batangas into a component city to be known as the City of Tanauan and mandates the holding of a plebiscite for the ratification thereof;

WHEREAS, the Commission on Elections, in its Resolution No. 3631 dated February 27, 2001, has scheduled the plebiscite day for the ratification of the conversion of the said municipality on Saturday, March 10, 2001;

WHEREAS, to enable the residents of the said municipality to actively participate in the schedule political exercise, there is a need to declare the plebiscite day as special day.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare Saturday, March 10, 2001, as a special day in the Municipality of Tanauan, Province of Batangas.
