[ Proclamation No. 123, November 3, 2001 ]

DECLARING THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 8, 2001, AS A SPECIAL NON-WORKING DAY IN THE PROVINCE OF AKLAN

WHEREAS, erstwhile Congressman GODOFREDO P. RAMOS, of the Province of Aklan was responsible for Aklans creation as a province, separate from the Province of Capiz, after so many years of earnest effort and legislative endeavor through Republic Act No. 1414;

WHEREAS, Congressman GODOFREDO P. RAMOS has occupied other high government positions as Governor of Aklan, Constitutional Convention Delegate and Justice of the Court Appeals;

WHEREAS, Congressman GODOFREDO P. RAMOS was consistently voted as one of the “TEN OUTSTANDING CONGRESSMEN” together with former President DIOSDADO P. MACAPAGAL while they were still colleagues in the House of the Representatives:

WHEREAS, Congressman GODOFREDO P. RAMOS served the House of the Representatives in various important capacities among others as Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs as well as the Committee on Ways and Means;

WHEREAS, Congressman GODOFREDO P. RAMOS likewise served as Philippine Delegate to various international conferences, such as, in the United Nations to pursue the Philippine claim to Sabah, North Borneo, to the Columbo Plan, and the International Inter-Parliamentary Union;

WHEREAS, as an appropriate way of expressing the gratitude of the people of Aklan for these outstanding achievements of a great leader and public servant;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me in Book I, Chapter 7, Section 27, of the Administrative Code of 1987, do hereby declare Thursday, November 8, 2001, as a special non-working day in the Province of Aklan.1aшphi1
