[ Proclamation No. 1192, October 19, 1973 ]

DECLARING THE THIRD WEEK OF NOVEMBER OF EVERY YEAR AS “DRUG ABUSE PREVENTION AND CONTROL WEEK.”

WHEREAS, an intensive and well coordinated preventive education and community information on the evil effects of dangerous drugs on the mind and body of individuals will in a large measure help in the prevention and control of drug dependence;

WHEREAS, there is a need to increase understanding among our people on the adverse effects of dangerous drugs on the health of our people as well as on the social and economic conditions of our country; and

WHEREAS, the prevention and control of drug dependence should be the concern of all;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the third week of November of every year as “Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Week.”

I hereby authorize the Dangerous Drugs Board to take the initiative and active leadership in the celebration of “Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Week” every year.1aшphi1

I call upon all agencies of the government, professional, civic and religious organizations, and the mass media to cooperate and coordinate with the Dangerous Drugs Boards in this undertaking.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
