DECLARING SATURDAY, APRIL 1, 1972, AS A NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER AND FASTING

WHEREAS, the promotion of peace, happiness and contentment of the people is among the highest goals of government;

WHEREAS, our efforts for the attainment of this goal are being threatened by the activities and operations of certain elements of our society seeking Lo impose an atheistic and violence-oriented ideology on our people; and

WHEREAS, a day of prayer and fasting may serve to promote the attainment of our national goals;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, ALEJANDRO MELCHOR, Executive Secretary, by order of His Excellency, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, do hereby declare Saturday, April 1, 1972, as a national day of prayer and fasting.
