[ Proclamation No. 966, February 8, 1972 ]

DECLARING FEBRUARY 11 TO MAY 10, 1972, AS SILVER JUBILEE OF THE PHILIPPINE NATIONAL RED CROSS.

WHEREAS, on February 11, 1917, the Philippines acceded to the Geneva Conventions, thus making the Republic a signatory to the basic conventions of the International Red Cross;

WHEREAS, on April 15, 1917, the President of the Philippines proclaimed the Philippine National Red Cross as an independent national society, fully qualified to have equal participation in the activities of the International Red Cross;

WHEREAS, from May 7 to May 16, 1972, the Philippine National Red Cross will sponsor a Regional Disaster Preparedness Seminar to culminate its observance of the Society’s first 25 years of service to the Filipino people;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, ALEJANDRO MELCHOR, Executive Secretary, by order of His Excellency, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, do hereby designate the period from February 14 to May 16, 1972, as the Silver Jubilee of the Philippine National Red Cross. I call upon all schools, citizens and residents of the Philippines to observe the occasion with fitting programs.1aшphi1

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
