[ Proclamation No. 949, January 12, 1972 ]

DECLARING SEPTEMBER 8 OF EVERY YEAR AS POLICE DAY

WHEREAS, in order to reawaken the faith, confidence and respect of the people for our local police agencies, and to encourage public cooperation and participation, it is imperative that a day be set aside every year to focus nation-wide attention on the significance of the efforts of our policemen in the maintenance of peace and order and the due enforcement of our laws throughout the country;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, ALEJANDRO MELCHOR, Executive Secretary, by order of His Excellency, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, do hereby declare September 8 of every year as Police Day.

The Police Commission shall coordinate the activities of all local law-enforcement agencies in connection with the celebration of this day.
