[ Proclamation No. 1003, April 28, 1972 ]

DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM MAY 1 TO 7, 1972, AS "RURAL BANK WEEK".

WHEREAS, the government recognizes that the improvement of the rural economy is vital to national growth and development;

WHEREAS, rural banks all over the archipelago have effectively assisted in the socio-economic expansion of the rural sector;

WHEREAS, to underscore the function of the rural banking system in contributing to the economic progress of our country, the Rural Bankers Association of the Philippines, jointly with the Central Bank of the Philippines, conducts a yearly convention of rural bankers with emphasis on the specialized functions rendered by such banks for the expansion of the rural economy; and

WHEREAS, this year the annual convention of rural bankers will be held in Manila from May 4 to 6, 1972, with the Theme: “RURAL BANKING: ITS ROLE IN AGRARIAN REFORM”;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, ROBERTO V. REYES, Acting Executive Secretary, by order of His Excellency, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, in recognition of the active role of the rural banking system in nation building, do hereby declare the period from May 1 to 7, 1972, as “RURAL BANK WEEK” under the auspices of the Rural Bankers Association of the Philippines and the Central Bank of the Philippines.
