DECLARING NOVEMBER 1971 AS “THE THIRD-WORLD THEATER FESTIVAL MONTH”.

WHEREAS, at the International Theater Institute (ITI) Congress held in London from May 24 to June 5, 1971, the Third World Theater Festival was unanimously adopted at the first project of the ITI Third World Committee;

WHEREAS, the Philippines was selected as site of the Festival, the first of its kind in the world;

WHEREAS, the Festival will be devoted to the presentation of dramatic and/or dance productions and cultural exhibits of some fifty (50) Third World Countries (Asia, Africa and Latin America) during the entire month of November; and

WHEREAS, the event gives a singular honor to our country in hosting the first festival and conference of the ITI, thereby contributing to world understanding;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, ALEJANDRO MELCHOR, Executive Secretary, by order of His Excellency, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, do hereby declare the month of November 1971 as “THE THIRD-WORLD THEATER FESTIVAL MONTH” under the auspices of all entities involved.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
