[ Proclamation No. 831, March 23, 1971 ]

DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM APRIL 9 TO 15, 1971, AND EVERY YEAR THEREAFTER AS “VETERANS WEEK.”

WHEREAS, it is desirable that national attention be focused at least once a year on the legion of veterans for their service to country and their contribution to nation-building; and

WHEREAS, their love of country should be an inspiration to all citizens for greater dedication to national ideals and patriotic zeal;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, ALEJANDRO MELCHOR, Executive Secretary, by order of His Excellency, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, do hereby declare the period from April 9 to 15, 1971, and every year thereafter, as “Veterans Week”. I call upon all citizens to turn their thoughts to our Veterans of all Wars in grateful appreciation for their services. the week should also be devoted to the attainment of maximum efficiency in public service and the strengthening of national unity among the citizenry.
