[ Proclamation No. 589, May 26, 1959 ]

CALLING THE CONGRESS OF THE PHILIPPINES TO A SPECIAL SESSION

WHEREAS, the public interest requires that the Congress of the Philippines be convened in a special session in order to consider urgent legislative measures;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, CARLOS P. GARCIA, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by the Constitution, do hereby call the Congress of the Philippines to a special session for such number of days as may be necessary, but not to exceed thirty days, commencing at ten o’clock in the morning of the first day of June, nineteen hundred and fifty-nine, to consider the enactment of the following legislative measure and such others as I may submit:

H. B. 3663—AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE CENTRAL BANK OF THE PHILIPPINES TO ESTABLISH A MARGIN OVER BANKS’ SELLING RATES OF FOREIGN EXCHANGE.1aшphi1

All persons entitled to sit as members of the Congress of the Philippines are requested to take notice of this proclamation.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.

Done in the City of Manila, this 26th day of May in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and fifty-nine, and of the Independence of the Philippines, the thirteenth.
