EXPRESSING CONCURRENCE IN THE DEPUTIZATION OF LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES IN CONNECTION WITH THE MAY 22, 2006 PLEBISCITES IN THE MUNICIPALITIES OF TIPO-TIPO AND TUBURAN, BASILAN

Pursuant to Article IX (C) Section 2(4) of the 1987 Constitution, I, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, President of the Philippines, do hereby concur with Resolution No. 7663 dated 11 May 2006 of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), deputizing the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) for the exclusive purpose of ensuring free, orderly, honest, peaceful and credible conduct of the May 22, 2006 plebiscites to ratify the creation of the municipalities of Ungkaya Pukan and Al-Barka out of the municipality of Tipo-tipo, Basilan, and the municipalities of Hadji Mohammad Ajul and Akbar out of the municipality of Tuburan, Basilan, finds it necessary to deputize law enforcement agencies and instrumentalities of government including the Armed Forces of the Philippines, pursuant to Muslim Mindanao Autonomy Act Nos. 190, 191, 192, and 193, passed by the Regional Legislative Assembly, Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao, on December 20, 2005.1aшphi1

National and Local officials and employees, law enforcement agencies and other instrumentalities of Government, including the AFP, NAPOLCOM, and the PNP, are hereby directed to coordinate and cooperate with the COMELEC in the performance of their duties and functions.

This Memorandum Order shall take effect immediately.
