[ Memorandum Order No. 365, May 17, 1991 ]

GRANTING A NEW PERIOD FOR THE IMPORTATION OF COMPLETELY BUILT-UP SECOND-HAND VEHICLES FOR TAXICAB OPERATION.

WHEREAS, the authority to import as provided for under Memorandum Order No. 203, series of 1988, and extended under Memorandum Order No. 272, series of 1990, completely built-up second-hand vehicles for taxicab operation expired on December 31, 1990;

WHEREAS, there remains a balance in the authorized allocation for the importation of said vehicles;

WHEREAS, there is a need to provide for a new period within which the remaining balance of the allocation can be fully met;

IN VIEW THEREOF, and upon recommendation of the Department of Transportation and Communications, in coordination with the Department of Trade and Industry and in the interest of the riding public, the importation of completely built-up second-hand vehicles for taxicab operation, to the extent of the remaining balance of the authorized allocation, 3,924 units, is hereby allowed until December 31, 1991, subject to the same guidelines and procedures, and such other rules and regulations, as jointly promulgated by the Department of Transportation and Communications and the Department of Trade and Industry.

The authorization to import granted under this Memorandum Order shall be an exemption from Memorandum Order No. 136, series of 1987.1aшphi1

This Memorandum Order shall take effect immediately.
