[ Memorandum Order No. 174, May 20, 1988 ]

Pursuant to Article IX(C), Section 2(4), of the 1987 Constitution, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, do hereby concur with Resolution No. 2009 of the Commission on Elections, promulgated on May 17, 1988, deputizing, in connection with the holding of the special elections on May 30, 1988 and in succeeding special elections for local officials in other places where a failure of the January 18, 1988 elections may thereafter be determined, the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine Constabulary/Integrated National Police, National Bureau of Investigation, other national or local law enforcement agencies and instrumentalities, all departments, bureaus, offices or agencies of the Government including government-owned or controlled corporations and flag-carriers, and all officials and employees thereof, for the exclusive purpose of ensuring free, orderly, honest, peaceful and credible elections in the places cited in the aforesaid Resolution and in succeeding special elections for local officials.

All government agencies, officials and employees deputized by the Commission on Elections pursuant to this Memorandum Order are hereby directed to coordinate and cooperate with the Commission on Elections in the performance of their respective duties and functions.

This Memorandum Order shall take effect immediately.1aшphi1
