REQUIRING ALL OFFICIALS AND EMPLOYEES IN THIS OFFICE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE TREE PLANTING PROGRAM AT THE MWSS LA MESA DAM-RESERVATION.

Pursuant to Presidential Decree No. 1153 dated June 6, 1977, “Requiring the Planting of One Tree Every Month for Five Consecutive Years by Every Citizen of the Philippines” and Letter of Instruction No. 423 date July 6, 1976, as implemented by PROFEM Administrative Order No. 1, current series, officials and employees in the Office of the President are hereby directed to participate in the initial tree planting program of this Office, especially those who have no lands or lots of their own.

For this purpose, there is hereby created a Tree Planting Secretariat which shall monitor all tree planting activities of employees in this Office to the PROFEM National Secretariat. It shall compile the individual reports from each office/unit and prepare the consolidated Report to the National Secretariat of all such tree planting activities, the report to include all pertinent data such as the names of the employees, the date of planting, number of tree planted by each of employee supported by a location map showing the plot planted by each employee. The Secretariat shall be composed of Messrs. Remigio Leaño, Miguel Sison Jr., Miguel Roa and Engr. Cesar Rubio. The Administrative Office shall provide such clerical staff support as may be necessary to the Secretariat to be taken from any of the office/unit in this Office.

Heads of offices/primary units shall designate a responsible official, preferrably a JET-STREAM graduate, to attend to the preparation of the tree planting activities of their respective units.1aшphi1 He shall coordinate all tree planting activities of his office with the Tree Planting Secretariat. In order to immediately implement the tree planting program of this Office to take advantage of the remaining phase of the current rainy season there is enclosed herewith the tree planting schedule for this Office.

The Office of the President has been allocated 100 hectares at the MWSS La Mesa Dam Reservation. As this area may not be sufficient for the entire tree planting program for the employees in this Office and their dependents, the area has been subdivided in proportion to the personnel strength of each office/primary unit as may be noted in the attached tree planting location plan or sketch.

For the initial tree planting activities, arrangements have been made with the Bureau of Forest Development for the supply of seedlings. For subsequent tree planting activities of each office/unit which may include the dependents of employees, each office/unit shall arrange its own schedule, secure its own seedlings and clear its own area. However, the care and maintenance of the seedlings already planted shall be the responsibility of each employee concerned.

For the information and guidance of the employees, enclosed also is the tree planting instruction sheet.
