MALACAÑAN PALACE MANILA BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES [ Memorandum Order No. 571, August 23, 1976 ] AUTHORIZING THE DEDUCTION OF VOLUNTARY CONTRIBUTIONS AMOUNTING TO ONE DAY’S PAY FROM THE SALARIES OF OFFICIALS AND EMPLOYEES OF THE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT FOR THE MINDANAO EARTHQUAKE AND TIDAL WAVE VICTIMS. WHEREAS, in view of the strong earthquake that recently wrought havoc and destruction of life and property in the islands of Mindanao, Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi, a call for involvement of all sectors of society has been sounded out to help our unfortunate brothers who were victims of said natural calamity; WHEREAS, the officials and employees of this Office have been traditionally receptive to this kind of endeavor; WHEREAS, it is necessary to give our share for the rehabilitation of the Mindanao earthquake and tidal wave victims; WHEREFORE, I appeal to all officials and employees of the Office of the President to donate one day’s pay for the rehabilitation of the Mindanao earthquake and tidal wave victims. The Disbursing Officer is hereby authorized to deduct one day s pay from the salaries of all officials and employees of this Office, who are receiving a monthly salary of ?600.00 and above, unless otherwise indicated by the officials or employees concerned. The amount authorized to be deducted shall be collected in four installments beginning the first week of September 1976, or in any manner such official or employee may desire.1aшphi1 By authority of the President: (SGD.)
